Having closed out the last Charlotte Players season with Nana Does Vegas in July, Jenni was at it again to start off the new season directing Looking for a Sepotember opening – a great little comedy to kick off the 2025-26 season.
Unlike Nana Does Vegas, and fortunately for Jenni, this play only had four characters and a minimal setting.
Looking explored the sometimes fickle and often shaky path to romance through the lives of four middle-aged singles.
Val responded to Andy’s personal ad and they arranged a blind date. Each convinced their friend to come along as a buffer. While there appeared to be no “magic” between Val and Andy, their friends Matt and Nina found an immediate attraction. This fast-paced, heartfelt, and hilarious comedy gave audiences a glimpse of modern dating and second chances.
This was one of those great little plays with a dream cast who were all outstanding in their particular roles. Jenni was certanly a happy director.
This four-way telephone conversation was one of the highlights of the play and finished Act 1 resoundingly. The two girls were talking to each other and the two boys were talking to each other – the dialogue mingled to create some hilarious moments for the audience.

So, as you can see, this was a fun little comedy and a good time was had by all – director, actors and audiences.
